Biography

I have been a music/piano teacher for 20 years and have taught in both private and public schools.

I am passionate about children having fun while learning new skills and enjoy challenging them to think outside the square.

My interest in writing musicals was accidental as a need for a school play at the lowest cost became necessary! So I puddled along and wrote my first musical which was a great success, and the children had a ball while exploring different eras and costuming. This extended into the classroom and art room so the whole school could be involved. We also made enough of a profit to have another musical!

I also discovered many of those musicals available were not written to the level of the children and my aim was for children of all levels being able to participate.

Most of my work has many characters so that if illness on opening night occurs, then a stand in can easily take the place of the missing child. All my plays are written with different amounts of lines which are outlined at the beginning of the play so that teachers are aware in advance of the learning load for each character. There are no main stars as the casts are large so many children have their opportunity to shine (prevents a lot of big heads)!
