You can Bank on the Nile

Duration 1 hour. Large cast, dance troupes and choir.

Synopsis

The story unfolds in Ancient Egypt. A new millennium has just begun and sadly no-one was prepared for the Y2K bug and what it would do to the world of computers.

Pharaoh, King Hasalot has just been informed that his riches are unavailable to him through EFTPOS and that the pyramids A.T.M.s have shut down. King Hasalot and his trusty bodyguards, Reggie and Cool must find another bank along the Nile to stash his loot.

Unfortunately, news of this catastrophe has found its way to Victorian England where "baddies" Sir Edward Gimme and his side-kick Greedy, plan to get their hands on the treasure.

The story unfolds amongst pyramids, mummy chambers (complete with dancing mummies) and surgeons' rooms as the hero Aussie Jones and Ruby Jewell along with Queen Abba, the Village People, English Bobbies and robots all have a hand in saving the king's treasure. Their reward? A new Y.M.C.A. of course!

A narrator keeps the whole performance moving assisted with songs from the Village People, Abba and The Bangles.

Testimonials

This was our third musical presentation that had been written by Lea Crammond and each one has been a lot of fun for all involved. The songs were great, the story line was full of witty 'one liners' and the children found it easy to learn their lines as the script was so superbly suited to primary school children. The Egyptian theme, with an all over message of sharing, allowed for some great choreography and costuming and each scene presented some interesting surprises. ATMs in a pyramid, Robots in Ancient Egypt and the wonderful Aussie Jones, cousin to Indiana, provided a hilarious and entertaining story line. What a great time we had. This one comes highly recommended.
