Performance Tips

Here are a few tips to help you out. There are many more available when you purchase your script.

Audition carefully. Listen for tone of voice, and projection. Confidence is important but will develop during rehearsals.

Have children sign a contract for rehearsals AND performance dates. Send it home so parents can check the diary.

Proper lighting and sound is necessary for a professional outcome.

Good costuming is vital, with the use of a lot of colour and make it sparkle where necessary!

If the children look and feel great, they will do a better job and if they "fluff" their lines it doesn't matter because they look fabulous!

Small pieces of tape on the floor with different colours for each main character helps them to find where they should stand in some busy scenes.

Ensure children stand centre front and not side on when speaking: often their voices disappear into the wings.

Encourage children to speak louder and slower than usual when on stage.
